Since 18 yeas a bicycle training is carried our for primary school children in Graz. Funded by the City of Graz FGM-AMOR (Austrian Mobility Research) managed to carry out the training in all primary schools since 2004. This training that takes place in real traffic situations enables children aged between 10 – 12 years to ride their bike in real road traffic independently.
Since two years and thanks to the CEE-funded BICY project it was now possible to extend this training also to 5th graders and to impart roadworthiness to children who have just started secondary school by testing and training their coordination, concentration, and attentiveness. The vice mayor of Graz, Lisa Rücker, has always supported this programme. Click here to find out, why she cares so strongly about cycling.
